There are many opportunities to get involved in the SSP Garden Club. Be involved as much or as little as you wish! We can always use an extra hand or two! Volunteers are rewarded by earning points that can be used toward the cost of ticketed events during the program year.
Annual Plant Sale:
- We always need help with our Annual Plant Sale, held each year on the Friday and Saturday of the third weekend of May. Do you have extra perennials you don't need? Dig 'em up and donate them to our sale on Thursday evening! Then, sit a while and enjoy a pizza/pop party as we organize for the sale. We also need help staffing the area on sale days. Volunteers are asked to work a two-hour shift. Lunch, snacks, drinks and other goodies provided to members during the sale.
SSP Garden Tour:
- We also invite you to 'host' in a garden for the SSP Garden Tour, held every other year during Kaposia Days. Don't have a lovely garden of your own? How about helping us out by acting as a 'garden sitter' in one of our gardens during the tour? Volunteers are asked to 'garden sit' for either a morning or afternoon shift. This way, you can still enjoy either the morning or afternoon touring other gardens themselves. Volunteers are provided with a free ticket to the tour. Don't want to garden sit or host a garden? How about being on the Tour committee? We need help checking out potential gardens in prep for the tour, providing tour directions, hosting the after tour picnic, etc. All volunteers earn points toward a free ticket to the Holiday Event.
SSP Garden Club Meetings:
- Know of a great speaker who would be interested in giving a presentation to our members during the cold Minnesota winter months? If so, let us know! Volunteers are also needed to set up our room, provide refreshments during the meetings, etc.
